H.560: An Act implementing elementary and secondary interdisciplinary climate literacy education
(filed in the Senate by Senator Jason Lewis as SD.896)
Young people are more aware than ever of the climate crisis. They want the knowledge and tools to address the issue and respond to the crisis. Developed in partnership with youth climate activists, this bill would establish an Interdisciplinary Climate Literacy Advisory Council to create guidelines for school districts as they develop plans to teach climate literacy. The bill would also establish an Interdisciplinary Climate Literacy Trust Fund to support curriculum development and professional training for climate literacy education in K-12 schools, especially in underserved communities.

H.1427: An Act reducing the cost of attending college
(filed with Representative Priscilla Sousa)
Open Educational Resources (OER) consist of teaching, learning, and research materials that reside in the public domain and permit no-cost access. Because OER is free, they eliminate the financial burden of textbook costs on college students, reduce the cost of attending college, and promote equitable access to higher education and student success. This bill would establish a trust fund to support the development of OER.

H.559: Resolve providing for an investigation and study by a special commission relative to the consumer impacts of electronic textbooks
(filed with Representative Priscilla Sousa)
This bill would establish a commission to examine the advantages and disadvantages of electronic textbooks for student consumers, looking at specific features including the costs and limitations of resale, sharing, and renting these resources, and the ways in which electronic textbooks affect consumer choice, access, and cost.

H.735: An Act to promote food literacy
(Co-filed with Representative Andy Vargas)
This bill would establish a Food Literacy Trust Fund to encourage and support the development of food literacy programs in both public and private K-12 schools in Massachusetts. These programs educate children about food systems and agriculture and include topics such as nutrition, the impact of diet on personal health, food production, the connections between the food system and the environment, inequities in access to food, and careers in the food system.
